Most bookkeepers learn numbers in a classroom. I learned them in the field — under real pressure, with real consequences.

Early in my career, I was working as a receptionist at an advertising agency when I noticed something off in the accounting reports I was pulling. I flagged it. The accountant — with a master’s degree — told me I simply didn’t know how to read a report. I was unconvinced. I walked my boss through the numbers step by step. She ran the figures herself. The accountant was called back in to explain the discrepancy — and couldn’t. That error, once corrected, saved the company $1.2 million.

I didn’t have a degree. I had attention, instinct, and an unwillingness to let a number slide when something didn’t add up.

That’s still how I work today.

Experience built in real businesses

Over the past two decades, I’ve supported businesses at every stage of growth — from a small tech startup doing freelance work for Trader Joe’s and Health Net, to helping that same company scale from 9 employees to 350 after landing a major printing contract. I’ve served as executive assistant to CEOs, managed traffic coordination departments, handled financial reporting, and built the operational systems that kept businesses running behind the scenes.

For 17 years, I owned and operated RMH Travel, managing all bookkeeping, vendor relationships, financial tracking, and client operations myself. I know what it means to run a service business — not just support one.

That owner’s perspective shapes how I support my clients. I’m not just organizing your books — I’m helping you see your business clearly.
